KEY STAGE 3
Art in KS3 is taught in rotation with the Technology subjects. Students have nine weeks of study and are involved in one of the projects listed below covering a variety of activities in two and three dimensions. They study line, tone, colour, texture, shape and form by experimenting and exploring different media and techniques. They also study the work of different artists.

Projects are Colour Theory, Portraiture & Bridget Riley Op Art Shells-paint
Y8
Celtic Art, pattern, decoration and paint techniques. A3 Celtic alphabet panel- watercolour and pencil crayon.
Y9
Aboriginal Art, experimentation, planning, pattern, printing, paint techniques, A2 Aboriginal Animal Paint/Printing
KEY STAGE 4
Students follow the AQA GCSE course in Fine Art. Throughout the course students develop understanding and experience in a range of processes, media, materials and techniques. Students study the work of artists and craft persons from different periods, cultures and traditions.
Y10
The projects are Natural Forms and Pop Art.
Y11
Students develop their own individual projects based on examination questions.
CURRICULUM TIME
KS3: 2 hours (on a rota with Technology)
KS4: 2 hours (Y10), 3 hours (Y11)
ASSESSMENT
Coursework: 60% Examination: 40% (10 hours)
