KEY STAGE 4

Child development is an option subject at KS4. This is a vocational qualification. It includes the knowledge and understanding of child development and well-being necessary for working with children in a variety of settings. It is aimed at a range of students who wish to be introduced to childcare and development of children aged 0-5years. It also gives them an insight into their preferred learning styles and assists in developing their ability to study.

CURRICULUM TIME

Y10 – 2 hours

Y11 – 3 hours

ASSESSMENT

Unit 1: Assessment task: An Introduction to working with children aged 0-5 years

Unit 2: Assessment task: Development and well-being 0-5 years

Unit 3: Written exam paper – 1.5 hours
