All GCSEs are taken at the same time in all schools around the county. These dates are set from the examinations boards which are all govenered by the JCQ (Joint council for qualifications).
Exams cannot be taken at any other time than the timetabled date.
However, in the unlikely event that there is a national distruption or crisis and exams cannot be taken nationally, WEDNESDAY 24TH JUNE 2020 HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS A ‘CONTINGENCY DAY’ where any missed exams will take place.
School will be alerted if it is agreed to reschedule any examinations and the affected students will be expected to be available in such circumstances. The decision regarding the re-schedulling of examinations will always rest with the examinations board. Schools MUST conduct the examnation on this date unless instructed to do otherwise by the examination board.
Where students choose not to be available for any rescheduled examination for reasons other than those covered by special consideration, they will not be eligible for enhanced grading arrangments.
It is our duty as a school to ensure all students and parents are aware of the contingency arrangements so that they may take it into account when making their plans for the summer in the unlikely event that the exam timetable might change.
