Our school was recently selected to take part in a geophysical survey at Wentworth Woodhouse (a grade 1 listed country house in the village of Wentworth). Over the course of two days, 30 of our Y10 students visited the site and used a variety of survey techniques to help search for the estates original garden paths. The results of the survey will be published later in the year in conjunction with Durham University and will be used to inform future restoration work. Our students were a credit to the school and learnt a lot about both the history of the stately home and archaeological techniques in general.
If, in the future, you visit the gardens of Wentworth Woodhouse, you will have our students to thank for the restored paths you walk on!
