Sadly following the Government’s decision to close schools we must say goodbye to most of our students today. We are particularly sorry that for our Y11 students their time here at Saint Pius has been cut short in this way. We are celebrating with them with a breakfast in the dining room this morning and have brought forward our Leavers’ assembly to this afternoon. As yet we do not know how and when grades will be issued for the cancelled GCSE exams but wish to reassure parents/carers and students that we will do everything required to make the process speedy and thorough when the time comes.
For our students working at home we will continue to provide work via the VLE (Firefly) and ask that parents/carers support their child’s learning as much as possible through developing a routine of daily completion of tasks which have been set.
As soon as we are informed fully of the process we will begin the distribution of vouchers for those students who require free school meals.
School will remain open for those students who we have been asked to accommodate and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the near future. All the staff at Saint Pius have shown great resilience and determination to keep the school running as usual and will maintain their efforts so that whenever we open again fully we are in a position to pick up rapidly and begin to minimize the impact of this school closure.
Please do not hesitate to contact school if you have any questions. We will do our best to support our students and families during this difficult and uncertain period. Best wishes and stay healthy.
