'LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU'

Retreats, Pilgrimage and Enrichment Activities

At Saint Pius X Catholic High School, students have the opportunity to go on a residential retreat to experience the joys of communal living and worship.

Our Year 7 Students go to the Oaks Centre a Georgian manor house set in beautiful parkland in south Sheffield, UK.  Here students have the opportunity to engage in a number of outdoor pursuits whilst also having the time for prayer, reflection and thinking about the message of Jesus.

In Year 8, our Students go further afield to Pine Lodge in Derby. Here students have the opportunity to engage in a more demanding set of outdoor pursuits and team building activities whilst encountering Christian teachings, prayer and communal living.

Our Year 9 Students have the opportunity to visit Savio House in the beautiful Peak District National park, which is run by the Salesians of Saint John Bosco.  Here students engage in a number of activities, discover Salesian spirituality, deepen their relationships with each other and God and celebrating the Eucharist.

In Year 10 the RE Department runs a pilgrimage to Rome which includes tours of the Vatican, Colosseum and other famous Christian sites. Students also get to see the tree of life Apse in Saint Clément’s, which is a part of their GCSE studies.

Both Year 10 and 11 students have the opportunity to go on the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes with other students from schools around the Diocese.  Students visit the places where St Bernadette lived, the famous Basilicas and the Grotto of Massabile where Saint Bernadette had her visions of the Mary, the Immaculate Conception.

Through the year there are a variety of other enriching visits such as the Flame event at Wembley Arena and local trips to events within the Diocese.
